WISHING UPON A CHRISTMAS STAR
How can we wish on falling stars
not really knowing who we are?
And why do rainbows follow dreams,
dreams like the wayward clouds, it seems?
Christmas is like those dreams and stars;
We let it fade and seem so far -
spending another life-long year
before returning to draw near.
Wishing does tell us where we are -
resting faint hopes on fading stars,
look to the past with eyes that see
all that our lives were meant to be;
Wishing upon a Christmas star
children know who they really are,
happily living brand-new days
so freely giving their lives away.
Wonderful smiles from babies eyes,
rickety walking - our first try;
hoping that we could please our dad,
tears on his face said that we had.
Playing and falling, scraping our knees
running to mom for her love and cookies.
Trial and error, learning somehow
from passion and patience why we are here now.
Wishing still tells us where we are -
needing His presence, not a star.
Looking into His eyes we see
a loving Creator - pleased when we see!

..I hope this season brings you closer to those priorities that matter most -keith.

Dec. 1997 - "..I read your poem, "A Christmas Star" and I thought it was
beautiful and very touching. It spoke to my heart and spirit. You are right -
that The Creator is the meaning of Christmas, and His love and mercy
is something we should keep in our hearts all year through.."

Dec. 1997 - "I visited your web page, and was pretty impressed. I really
like how you described Christmas as seeming far off, and not as heartfelt
as it did when we were kids. I thought about that a lot last year...it was my
last one at home. Now at school, I realize how Christmas, as well as
other things change as we get older, face new things, become who we are.
Thanks for bringing into the light what a lot of us have felt for a long time.."

be shared with many people for the Holiday Season! ..I like the snow falling as well.

and it really made me think. I'm sad to say that i don't always think about what matters
most. Thank you very much for sharing it with me. It made me smile !"

Dec. 1997 - "..I read your poem and i enjoyed it very much. Thank you for inviting me to
such a treat. I know that things in this world seem to be falling apart. But there are a few
of us in this world that still believe in the true meaning of Christmas. Most people focus on
the hustle and bustle of buying the gifts and making sure that the lights on the house are just
perfect, and better than the neighbors. But it is rare to see people that just want to be with the
family, and enjoy a nice meal, and replay the memories with the relatives and photo albums.
Thank you again for the reminder of hope, and love. That is a wish come true on a Christmas
Star.
